As you are aware the profits from the event remain within the Stroud 5 Valleys supporting local charities and good causes. Some of the Charities supported this year by Rotary 5 Valleys Fireworks include, Explorer Scouts, Allsorts, Gloucestershire Young Carers, Nailsworth Youth Fund, The Shrubberies School with the Apperley Centre, Home Start, and the Macular Society.
The 3 Rotary Clubs have also joined together to support Stroud District Food Bank in the lead up to and through the Christmas period. We are donating £1500 worth of food, toiletries, feminine hygiene and baby products. A National charity has agreed to match fund our £1500 raised through the fireworks. Tesco’s Stroud’s Community Representative, Lucy Daniels, has also come on board and will with the Tesco’s Express stores locally donate a further £500 worth of goods, which Tesco’s will help pick and deliver. So, a whopping £3500 of support for the Stroud District Food Bank this year thanks to your kind sponsorship at a time we all know demand is going to be high with energy prices recently going up 10% and swathes of senior citizens losing their winter fuel allowance. For some the decision can sadly be to eat or heat.
